Ellis Island

Immigration ship manifests maintained at Ellis Island from 1892 to 1924 provide information concerning age at arrival, person they were visiting, town from  which they emigrated, and , in some years, descriptions. Women traveled under their maiden names, hence, Orsala (Ursala) Ventre rather than Grasso. The children often did not have their last names noted as they would be listed immediately under the parent. Clues to relationships can also be found in the names of those traveling from the same town.  Click on the thumbnail to enlarge the sheet.
