As you are probably aware, the federal government takes a census every 10 years. Each Census asks slightly different questions and obtains information such as the ages of the individuals at the time of the census, their address, their marital status, their occupation, their native language, date of immigration, etc. The latest Census to be issued for public review is that of the 1930 Census. There are a few records of the Grasso's noted in the Census for 1920 and 1930 Census taken in Hoboken, New Jersey. So far, those appear to be the only publicly available census records in which the newly-emigrated Grasso's appeared. Take a gander at these records of Tomaso and Antonio's families. Checking the years as to what was reported for "year of emigration" will show why the Ellis Island passenger manifests don't disclose all the early emigrating Quindici Grasso relatives.
